Biocatalysis and Biotransformation
Biocatalysis and Biotransformation is an international journal covering the application, both actual and potential, of biological catalysts (including whole cells or isolated components thereof, natural and modified enzymes and catalytic antibodies) for the synthesis, interconversion or degradation of chemical species. In addition to papers describing the synthetic applications of biotransformations the journal particularly welcomes papers focusing on the mechanistic principles, kinetics and thermodynamics of biocatalytic processes, the chemical or genetic modification of biocatalysts, metabolic engineering, and the activity and stability of biocatalysts in non-aqueous and multi- phasic environments, including the design of large scale biocatalytic processes. The scope of the journal also encompasses biomimetic systems and environmental applications of biocatalysis where the mechanistic principles are understood or novel biocatalytic activities are involved.Regular issues of the journal publish full length refereed research papers and invited review articles in topical areas. Short communications in areas such as the application of biotransformations in chemical synthesis or preliminary reports of novel catalytic activities are also welcomed.

Biochemical Systematics and Ecology
Biochemical Systematics and Ecology is devoted to the publication of original papers and reviews, both submitted and invited, in two subject areas: (i) the application of biochemistry to problems relating to systematic biology of organisms (biochemical systematics); (ii) the role of biochemistry in interactions between organisms or between an organism and its environment (biochemical ecology). Papers will be grouped in each issue according to subject area. Research papers should generally be of completed investigations. Preliminary reports will be published where findings are considered to be of sufficient interest to justify rapid publication. In addition, short reports of new sources of known compounds (New Source Reports) will be accepted where they can be justified in terms of systematic or ecological significance. These reports must be written to a standard format.One volume will appear annually and eleven issues will constitute a volume. Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering (BBE) is the official journal of the Nalecz Institute of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The journal was founded in 1981. One volume, composed of four issues, is published annually. The following types of contributions connected with biocybernetics and biomedical engineering can be accepted for publication: original research works, reviews (if ordered by BBE), short communications and letters. Originally, CPB covered all aspects of the pharmaceutical sciences, however, since the topics covered by the above journal became increasingly diverse, a new sister journal, BPB was created in l993.CPB covers physical and inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, natural products chemistry, medicinal chemistry, analytical chemistry, pharmacognosy, and physical pharmacy. On the other hand, BPB covers analytical biochemistry, biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, microbiology, pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, pharmacogosy and biopharmacy, including all fields of life sciences such as genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, structural biology, chemical biology and so on.
Biologically Inspired Cognitive Architectures
The focus of the journal is on the integration of many research efforts in addressing the challenge of creating a real-life computational equivalent of the human mind. Therefore, the journal publishes on the multidisciplinary study of cognitive architectures found in vivo and in silico.To help foster a wider understanding, at a computational level, of how natural intelligent systems develop their cognitive, metacognitive, and learning functions, the journal will promote the overarching goal of creating one unifying widespread framework for the computational modeling of biologically inspired cognitive architectures.The scope includes (but is not limited to):Cognitive science, with a focus on higher cognitive functions and their cognitive architecture models: including autonomous cognition and metacognition, imagery, sensemaking, meta-learning, self-regulated learning, life-long learning and cognitive growth, "critical mass" of a learner, models of creativity, affects, emotions and feelings, emotional competence, social cognition, the self, human-like episodic memory, language perception, processing, production, acquisition, and development;Computer science and engineering, with a focus on human-like artificial intelligence: cognitive architectures, virtual and physical cognitive robotics, synthetic characters, bootstrapped and human-like learning, human-computer interface, vision, computational linguistics, intelligent tutoring systems;Neuroscience, with a focus on higher cognition and learning: system-level computational neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, models of the neural substrates of semantic and episodic memory and awareness, agency, emotions and feelings, theory of mind and social cognition, language, imagery, voluntary control, goal and value systems, spatial cognition, etc.Contributions to the journal should include a cognitive architecture element and an element of biological inspiration, the latter understood broadly (e.g., inspiration by the human cognition). Both mature and new cutting edge research are welcomed, provided they have a strong emphasis on concrete empirical or theoretical studies. Submissions of a purely philosophical nature are discouraged and will be redirected elsewhere.

Biologicals provides a modern and multidisciplinary international forum for news, debate, and original research on all aspects of biologicals used in human and veterinary medicine. The journal publishes original papers, reviews, and letters relevant to the development, production, quality control, and standardization of biological derived from both novel and established biotechnologies. Special issues are produced to reflect topics of particular international interest and concern.Three types of papers are welcome: original research reports, short papers, and review articles. The journal "Biological membranes" was founded in January 1984, Academician Ovchinnikov. The journal "Biological membranes" publishes articles and reviews covering a variety of mainly physical and chemical aspects of membrane and cell biology. These include: the structure of membranes, their lipid composition and physico-chemical properties and structure of membrane proteins. Particular attention is paid to bioenergetics, membrane transport processes of reception and regulation, which are responsible for transmitting information. A considerable place is given to papers dealing with the study of cell-cell contacts and interactions, as well as the structure and function of intracellular membranous structures. The journal publishes fundamental studies of biomedical nature, including aspects of membrane devoted to immunology. The journal is intended for professionals, young researchers and graduate students working in the field of biophysics, biochemistry and cell biology. The magazine is published by "Science" in Russian. For several years, the journal was translated into English. Title translated versions from 1984 to 1993 - " Biological M embranes ", from 1994 to 2001 -" Membrane and Cell Biology ". Table of contents and English summaries are presented in the publication Current Contents , called the Russian version of " Biologicheskie membrany ".
