Chemical Engineering Communications provides a forum for the publication of manuscripts reporting on results of both basic and applied research. All conventional areas of chemical engineering will be considered as well as topics in semiconductor processing, materials engineering, bioengineering, fluid mechanics, the molecular theory of equilibrium and transport properties, applied mathematics and computer-aided design. Chemical Engineering Communications publishes full-length research articles dealing with completed research projects on subjects such as experimentation (both techniques and data) and new theoretical models. Critical review papers reporting on the current state of the art in topical areas of chemical engineering are also welcome, as well as short communications and letters to the editor which give preliminary announcements of new theoretical concepts, new experimental data, innovative experimental techniques or novel concepts in data correlation. Chemical Papers is devoted to research in pure and applied chemistry and chemical engineering. At its founding in 1947, the journal presented the achievements of Slovak chemical science. Experimental papers are expected to be brought into relation with theory, and theoretical papers should be connected to present or future experiments. Manuscripts that apply standard methods to specific physical-chemical problems and/or to specific systems are appropriate if they report novel results for an important problem of high interest and/or if they provide significant new insights.Manuscripts describing routine use or minor extensions or modifications of established and/or published experimental and theoretical methodologies are not appropriate for the journal. The initiative to start with publication of a new journal Chemical and Biochemical Engineering Quarterly (CABEQ) as a part of European Alpe-Adria initiative for regional cooperation is described. Given are the main goals for the new journal published by Croatian Association of Chemical Engineers, formation of the international editorial board, and experiences gained during 15 years of publishing. Presented are statistical data on published papers, country of origin of authors, and classification of papers into chemical and biochemical engineering fields. The experiences gained during the last two years with publishing on Internet and planned activities in future are also presented. A view on validation of journals by ISI impact factor is discussed.

Studies that illustrate the underlying chemistry of biological processes will also be viewed favorably. Other relevant studies of interest to chemists and biologists will also be considered. In general, to be considered suitable for publication in this journal, investigations that primarily have a genetic, computational, or theoretical focus must contain substantiating experimental data.
